PEACE BOAT Emergency relief volunteer staff

I decided to join the PEACE BOAT emergency relief volunteer staff.

Over 100 people attended the emergency relief volunteer staff orientation at Peace Boat Centre Tokyo a day before and 35 people will be departing today to provide meals and assist at the evacuation centres in Miyagi.
Then I am the one of 35.

(from Press Release)
 ACTIVITY REPORT
Peace Boat sent two advance teams to the affected areas from March 16 to collect information about the damage and needs, and deliver aid including 100 blankets, food including rice and noodles, masks etc. These items were brought directly to evacuation centres in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, upon consultation with local authorities. Since then, staff members have been assisting with distribution of goods in the affected areas, particularly between smaller evacuation centres. The team has also delivered meals to Nisshin Hospital and Saito Hospital, where patients had run out of food. Peace Boat is now also conducting assessments of the needs and current situation in each evacuation centre in the area, as well as coordinating requests from other organisations willing to help provide meals and other aid in Ishinomaki.

Not enough food not enough people who can work there and not enough money to send the people up there!! PEACE BOAT will support the affected area long-term. They have volunteer experiences of emergency relief activities in all over such as Sumatra, Osaka etc....
They have adaptable fighting potential and systematically organize volunteers !!

PLEASE SUPPORT PEACE BOAT !!!!!!!!

Tonight, I am leaving to Ishinomaki-city Miyagi. It must be tragic reality. However I'll try not to be pessimistic, just do my job, making hot food and helping evacuation camp for victims...and offer a smile of reassurance for them.

Brackout, bad water condition.... Those problems are many places in other countries.. We were just lucky till this happened. Let's think of the disaster areas... The area is not the place ''some one'' can help.  WE each of us have to take action and over come any difficulty together !!

A chubby and funny guy who went to the around world cruise on the same boat 10 years ago ! Now, he is a PEACE BOAT staff ! He is a leader of my volunteer group this time.
I am really encouraged.
And I got messages from everyone.... Thank you !!
I can fight for this because of you are all inside of my heart !! Love you all !!

Super moon

Looked up the full moon, and felt prayers from all over the world and got power from the shinier light.

May the light stream down on the people in the affected area, and as a beam of hopes reach to their hearts....

Let's keep our hopes up !

Day 6, (16 March) since the earthquake hit my country.
We all carry the same feeling inside of us.Yesterday, most of the train lines are reduced services or canceled, however I tried to reach Roppongi for my Japanese school. A lot of the students are living here away from home alone.so as a Japanese teacher, go to work and see their faces are what we can do. I thought I got to make them smile at least !

When I got to school, Some of the students have gone back to their countries already, and seems like more students are considering to go back, and I know that is also what they can do fo their people.

However more than half of the students in my class were there. I am relief when I looked their faces smiling. There were after shocks while in the class, they worried but It seemed like they were trying not too panicky. A student looked up to me and just nodded and smiled as if she said “It'll be ok !”

The students from Argentina, as soon as they got to school, found me and said “Were you okay?”and kept “We are the same feelings with Japanese people !”with beginner Japanese but very warm-heartedly.

It was definitely ME, who was helped and got smile from the students...

In the class, we discuss what we should do when the big earthquake happened again and what we can do for now...what it means to live in the presents. Workers, students,a person who protect their family... what it means to each of us do what we can do...

On the jam-packed train, without any words, I feel consideration, tenderness, humanness from people. The day Earthquake happened, when I walked to 5hours making my way to home, many people encouraged each other and exchanged the information each other. and Stores let us use their phone or toilet. Everybody cares each other and doing what we can, and face the reality.

Reflect on my self, on the life.
It's good thing if we save electricity on a routine bases no matter how the times are, but if we haven't lived that way, this time, we should face up to the our problems directly and should save electricity as much as we can, because that is least we JAPAN can do for the disaster areas. Since the Friday, we are having Candle night. It's the least we can do.

Now, we do what we need to do. Comfort what we should do. Be good to your family, partner, friends, your people, make a smile someone next to you, make peace around you, face up, look and speak to people with making eye-to-eye contact, keep smiling, behave positively and find calm as much as we can. that's what we can do.

To know the correct information. It's also what we can do.Ignorance is not going to be a soft pillow for me, Ignorance is powerlessness. I choose knowing, should know correct and needed information, so that I can think and enhance consciousness, think victimes, think our country. That is what we can do.

Now the world is with JAPAN. All the message from all over the world make my heart very warm and giving us a hope. Japan is not alone. It's just started, this is going to be long haul.

A dozen thoughts crowded my mind. keeping busy with knowing what is happening in my country all day but because of this time, need to be calm as much as we could, hang in and keep having strengh, join our hands and hearts.

We JAPAN will hang in and survive !

My respectful alpinist Ken Noguchi said ''Knowing is carrying.''
I found a tweet of him, ''My office are reaseaching how we bring aid suppry all day long. There is something I can do ! and there are something you can do !! Now, For the victims, We all Japan carry what have happened and Don't give up ! Let's do our best ! ''

I feel up lifted when I read it.
We each of us carry, We all of us are carrying.
We won't give up !!
We'll stand up and smile !!
Let's keep our hopes up !!

Wind and Waves

It was very windy Sunday, we joined flea market at Kamakura Shichirigahama beach last weekend.
Feel so nice just sitting by the Shonan long beach.

Listen to the waves, lapping against the shore.Look up Kites soar freely through the skies, ride on the sea breeze.

Great day !

Sakuramochi

Hina matsuri (March 3) is the Festival of Dolls. Also called Girls' Day Festival, this is the day on which wishes are expressed for the future happiness of girls.

A sweets called Sakuramochi which is steamed sticky rice filled with sweet bean paste and wrapped in cherry blossom leaves, is partaken on this day. The leaves are salted, so it tastes sweet and salt, two at a time. Green tea would be good matching with it.
But there are two kinds of shapes, One is called Doumyoji from Osaka area (left on the pic) and the other one is from Tokyo area.

I realized that Japanese people like sweets very much.
On the day of Hinamatsuri, I saw people were making long lines in front of sweets store... Each events have a special seasonal sweets. however ancient people were making those by themselves, maybe we should try that sometimes. so that way, we feel more seasons and culture !!
